Antoine de Saint-Exupéry School in Arequipa Peru

After several hours flying from New York to Peru we finally arrived late in the evening of September 11th in Arequipa, Peru. The evening was warm and magical knowing that the altitude is 7740 ft above sea level we did not feel any altitude sickness. The following day we awoken to the breathtaking view of El Misti, Chachani and Picchu Picchu volcanos. We cannot wrap our heads around the beauty of the landscape and nature surrounding us. Comes early Monday morning and off we went to teach the first day at Antoine de Saint-Exupéry School. We were greeted by the wonderful staff and children and away we went to teach them my Recycle Art Program for the Paris, COP21 "WALL" exhibition on September 24th. So for two weeks the children and some parents focused on creating beautiful art out of recycle materials collected at the school like, plastic bottles, hangers, fabric, newspapers, yarn, plastic bags and other items. The true magic of this program was the dedication and concentration from all the children that when classes would end the students were sad to see us leave and every time we ran into them they would shout out "Ms. Vickie and Sandra' when are you coming back to teach another class. After two weeks the big day had arrived and the "COP21 Wall" constructed out of recycle windows, crates, wall divider, umbrellas and other items showcased all of the works the children created, from the puppets made from hangers to puppets made from plastic bags, masks, CDs mobiles, bracelets and picture frames all from recycle materials.
